Azerbaijan Medical University is a scientific center, uniting thousands of students around the world. University preparing future doctors-professionals, specialists, and scientists in the field of health.

Azerbaijan Medical University was founded in 1930 on the basis of the medical faculty of the Baku State University and the University is one of the largest and most prestigious higher educational establishments in the country. Currently the university has almost a hundred-year history. University is the largest scientific and medical center in Azerbaijan with a rich material and technical base, educational buildings, student hostels, clinics and laboratories. Research laboratories of the university are equipped with modern facilities, which increase the importance of scientific research and create sufficient human resources potential in the field of medicine.

There are now more than 7000 local students and 1171 foreign students studying at the Azerbaijan Medical University. The courses are taught through 74 academic departments by a comprehensive staff of over 1628 trained professionals.

Azerbaijan Medical University presents a successfully tested system of credit education in the leading countries of the world. The application of the credit system in the Bologna process allows expanding the mobility of all students and teachers.

Thanks to the international relations of the university, many students have the opportunity to get loans for specialties in summer schools of foreign universities. At the same time, students from foreign countries, including Russia, the United States, Ukraine, Germany, Turkey, Switzerland, Poland and other countries also take part in AMU Summer Schools.

There are two separate Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Military Medicine, Faculty of Child Health and Diseases, Faculty of Preventive Medicine and Biology in the Azerbaijan Medical University. Azerbaijan Medical University has its own 4 hospitals, indoor sports hall, 6 student dormitories, two conference halls with a capacity of 200 and 500 people, sports fields, 6 educational buildings, libraries, many clinics, scientific research centers, cafeterias, buffets and many other buildings. Each year, students from around the world İndia, Morocco, İran, Turkey, Nigeria, China, South Korea and Bangladesh come and study in Azerbaijan Medical University due to the quality education and suitable tuition fees.

Education in Azerbaijan Medical University is given in either Azerbaijan language, Russian or English depending on the student's choice. Students should carefully choose the language of instruction before enrollment due to the limited availability of quotas. Azerbaijan Medical University does not accept the requests of students to change the language of instruction when they graduate the preparatory school.

Preparatory education is compulsory at Azerbaijan Medical University and preparatory education is carried out in two semesters per year. After the preparatory course, students will give final exam for bachelor degree, only successful students will be accepted to the course. The tuition fee of General Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy is 4000 USD per year in all 3 languages.

Location

Azerbaijan Medical University is located on İnkılap Street, next to Semaşka Hospital and is in an easy-to-reach location where buses move every minute.

Dormitory

Azerbaijan Medical University has its own accommodation which consist of 4-students rooms. Accommodation for girls and boys are located in the same building, but on different floors. The price of accommodation annually is for 600 USD, but students must make reservation earlier as it is booked in a short period.
